Wig Vs Prosthesis
Many people do not know the difference between a wig and a prosthesis. A wig is an item that is worn for fashion or cosmetics it is not a necessity item. A prosthesis on the other hand is a need comparable to a burn victims need for plastic surgery. A prosthesis is the correct term to use when it is a medical necessity. An insurance company will not cover a wig but may in fact cover a prosthesis. Having the right terminology is the first step to insurance reimbursements. For more tips and information on this please refer to wigsonline.com's section called, Guidelines for Filing Insurance Claims.
